Overland motorcycle tours through Asia with the start from Hanoi, Vietnam riding over to Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Bhutan and end trip in New Dheli. The trip will take place of 21 days with 18 days riding and 3 rest days.

This overland motorcycle tours Asia is just for rider who have adventure minded and like to discover the world on motorcycle. With total of ~6.000 km and 18 days of riding it is really not easy for everyone. You must be used to with long distance riding.

Overland motorcycle tours Asia will ride over 7 countries and will need special permits to enter Vietnam, Myanmar, India and many authorities at remote or restriction area of Myanmar and India.

MotoTours Asia will organize 2 trips with fixed calendar per year with one trip start from Hanoi and end in Dheli and the way back Dheli – Hanoi just 1 week after the first trip end in Dheli.


Hanoi - Nepal Motorcycle tour

Hanoi – Nepal

Day 1. Hanoi – Son La, 320km

Transfer out of Hanoi city by Van to avoid the crazy traffic of Hanoi. We will drive along the Black river bank heading to the Hoa Binh province then ride over the mountain passes to Mai Chau for lunch in a host family of Thai ethnic.

In the afternoon we will drive on the road No 6 to Moc Chau plateau and stop in Son La for the night. If time is permited we will visit the old Son La prision in the center of the city.

Day 2. Son La – Muang Xay (Laos), 360km overland to Laos

Follow the historical road No 6 to ride over Pha Din passes then drive to Dien Bien Phu for lunch.

After lunch, prepare your passport, permit for motorcycle exit Vietnam and into Laos and drive to Tay Trang – Sop Hun the border checkpoints to enter to Laos. It may take 1-3 hours for the paper work for both Vietnam and Laos border checkpoints.

One we enter to Laos we will drive through Muang Khua and then end in Muang Xay, the headquater of Oudomxay.

Day 3. Muang Xay – Luang Prabang, 190km

Easy drive along the Nam Ou river to Luang Prabang. After lunch it is your free time to explore this beautiful World Heritage site.

Day 4. Luang Prabang – Chiang Rai, 450km (overland Laos – Thailand)

Early walk to learn about Laos tradition giving ceremony to the monk in the main street of Luang Prabang then then an early departure is needed.

It will be part with some dirt road drive to Sayaboury then turn right on beautiful road heading to Hong Sa where we will have lunch in a local restaurant.

Drive to the Xieng Neon then exit Laos to enter to Thailand at Phu Sang, continue our journey to Chieng Rai for the night.

Day 5. Chieng Rai – Keng Tung – Kunhing, 400km (overland Thailand – Myanmar)

After an early breakfast we will drive to Mae Sai – Tachilek bord checkpoints to exit Thailand and enter Myanmar. There will be an official guide from Myanmar Goverment waiting for us at the border and he will follow our group until we exit Myanmar.

Lunch stop at Keng Tung then we will drive to Kunhing for the night.

Day 6: Kunhing – Nyaungshwe, 260km

Follow the National road 4 drive to Nyaungshwe and we will have time in the afternoon to vitit the beautiful Inle Lake. Boat trip and sightseeing.

Day 7: Nyaungshwe – Old Bagan, 330km

Easy day drive to Bagan with some stop in Kalaw, Meiktila for sightseeing then end day ride in the beautiful town of Old Bagan.

Day 8. Old Bagan rest day

Rest day and free to explore the Archaeological Zone Bagan with beautiful temple, museum…this is the old capital city of the Pagan country from 9th to 13th Century.

Day 9. Old Bagan – Kale, 380km

This is a long day drive on dirt road so an early departure is needed. Kale is a small town closed to India border with very few tourist pass by on their overland trip India – Myanmar.

Day 10. Kale – Imphal (overland Myanmar – India)

Drive to Tamu for the exit of Myanmar and enter to India at Moreh, then we continue to Imphal, The eastern part of India is still not easy to access for tourist and we will need authorization permit for the passage trip through the area.

Day 11. Imphal – Tezpur, 420km

Long day driving over mountain passes to the beautiful city of Tezpur settled at the T-conjunction of the Kameng and Brahmaputra river.

Day 12. Tezpur – Saprang, 420km (overland India – Bhutan)

Another long day drive along the Bhutan border and we will try to get to the border of Bhutan as soon as we can to enter Bhutan, Saprang is a small beautiful town just closed to the border with India.

Day 13. Saprang – Thimphu, 248km, 

Heading higher mountain passes and drive to the headquater of the Kingdom of Bhutan, the happinest country in the world.

Day 14. Rest day in Thimphu

Free at leisure to discover Thimphu or join with the group for the sighseeing

Day 15. Thim Phu – Paro, 60km

Paro is a beautiful valley of Bhutan, it is a historic town with many sacred sites and historical buildings scattered through the area. Short riding to discover historical sites such as Taktsang Palphug Monastery and the Tiger’s Nest is a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site and the temple complex is located in the cliffside of the upper valley.

Day 16. Paro – Darjeeling, 340km (return to India from Bhutan)

We drive back to India with the overland crossing at Phuentsholing border checkpoint. Then drive to Western Bagal where we stop at a historical city of Darjeeling.

Day 17-18 Darjeeling – Kathmandu


Day 19-20-21 Kathmandu – Dheli
