LAOS WATER FESTIVAL MOTORBIKE TOUR
Laos water festival motorbike tour which will take you join in one of the greatest local festivals of Asia : the Laos New Year Celebration! Since next season of 2015, MOTOTOURS ASIA will run this tour as annual event and welcome world riders be a part of this living adventure …

Day 01 (10th April): Hanoi – Mai Chau (170 Km)
Heading out of Hanoi on road number 6 to Mai Chau, and idyllic valley populated by mainly White Thai ethnic people. Visiting Mai Chau, you have a chance to enjoy folk songs and traditional colourful culture of White Thai in Mai Chau. The scenery of the arrival to Mai Chau is characterized with beautiful limestone mountains and colourful hill tribes who can be seen and visited on the way.
After lunch, we have the whole afternoon free to climb up to the top of Thung Nhuoi pass. From the top of the pass there is a beautiful view of Mai Chau valley, often engulfed by clouds but still a sight to be enjoyed. After visiting this wonderful site, we drop down to explore more of the area of White Thai people.

Day 02 (11th April): Mai Chau – Vieng Xai (220 Km)
Follow Ma River then turn left for real mountain windy road to Na Meo border crossing. The landscape is great with bamboo forest and rural villages.
It takes about an hour and half for existing Vietnam and entering to Laos. Here we are in Laos with beautiful scenery of limestone karts, rain forest. We will make a stop to visit Vieng Xai, the headquarter of Pha Thet Laos during the 2nd Indochina 2 War. There are about 480 caves were used by the Pathet Lao during the Second Indochina War to shelter from American bombardment. Then spend a night in a local hotel near by.

Day 03 (12th April): Vieng Xai – Phonsavan (270 Km)
In the morning, you can do first stop at the market in Sam Neua. This place is small, unassuming but interesting. Early morning, in opaque mist, the locals are getting filled up into market square. Not very a touristy spot, but you can find many colourful textile stuffs.
We have lots of beautiful windy roads today. Lunch in a restaurant in Nam Neun village before heading on another 95 km to Muong Kham, stop to visit Tham Piew cave – where about 400 people were killed during the second Indochina War by a rocket from American Jet on 24 Nov 1968. Then continue another hour to Phonsavan the new capital of Xieng Khoang province.

Day 04 (13th April): Phonsavan – Luang Prabang (260 Km)
In the morning, we will first visit the office of MAG â€“ Mines Advisory Group to understand the issue left behind after war in this country.
Then we will organize a visit to Plan of Jars – a World Heritage Site by UNESCO near by the town. It gets its name from the hundreds of stone jars scattered across the landscape, ranging in site from 1-2.5 meters in height. Let’s take a walk and study the legend story about this region.
After those, we hit back the road. Road gets winding and comes with many nice curves and bands. When we arrive the place, we keep riding further a bit and get the open view from a moutain peak. We have long distance today, after lunch we will ride straight to Luang Prabang on mountain road.
Dinner should be in a local restaurant at Mekong riverside with cold beer Laos. After that, you have free time to enjoy the colourful night market in the town.

Day 05 (14th April):Â Luang Prabang, rest day, Laos New Year
Visit Elephant Camp and great waterfalls around the city by local transportation Tuk Tuk.

Day 06 (15th April): Luang Prabang, rest day, Laos New Year
Explore the main ceremony in Laos New Year. From noon, the most exciting time comes in Water festival.

Day 07 (16th April): Luang Prabang – Nong Khiaw (210 Km/~80 Km fun dirt)
Say farewell to such a charming city, we hit the road again. Very soon, we turn-off for dirt-road distance. The road is gravel and fast compressed clay so that’s fun to ride. Last distance will be through out the national park, landscape is wild. You may see a sign “We’re proud to have tiger here” somewhere.
Spend a night in beautiful resort face Nam Ou river and limestone moutain backyard.

Day 08 (17th April): Nong Khiaw – Muang Khua (210 Km)
Another long day on mountain road from Nong Khiaw to Muang Khua, pass by Muang Xai town for lunch. Fist distance will be a bit rough on old broken road. Then we do winding mountain road through out dense forest. The road get more flat after lunch to Muang Khua a charming little town on the side of Nam Ou river.

Day 09 (18th April): Muang Khua – Dien Bien (100 Km)
Enjoy the breakfast in a local restaurant with a view to habour. You also have time to check out the market to see locals go trading.
Today we have short distance to Dien Bien (Vietnam), the road is now upgraded to be paved. After formalities at Tay Trang border checkpoint, we cruise down to Dien Bien city. Will stop to visit the Museum before checking in hotel.

Day 10 (19th April): Dien Bien – Phu Yen (280 Km)
Longest day in our tour, but road is good. We will do the smooth highway no.6 till Moc Chau. Then we have a part of distance through hilly area till we hit the river crossing. Take a local ferry to the other side of Black River and enjoy last beautiful distance along the ride bank.

Day 11 (20th April): Phu Yen – Hanoi (160 Km)
Take it easy getting back to Hanoi. Last distance will be on busy traffic but we will handle well after many km done.
