Day 4: SHANGRI LA – DEQÉN, 170km, (3,390m)

Motorcycle tour overland Vietnam - China

Entering the Tibet Autonomous Region, there is an option to follow old road 214 to explore the majestic canyon hidden deep in the mountains, where there is a village where people previously wanted to go to Shanri. It takes about 5 days to climb mountains and go by boat. That has made the villagers' lives isolated. One day, a village boy had a piece of iron shot into his left eye. When he got to the hospital in Shangri La, the doctor said "there was no chance of saving his eye" and that was the first time he came into contact with the boy. The outside world, seeing the streets with bright lights at night and the civilized world. He decided to go everywhere to do business to make money to build roads for the villagers. He was cursed by the villagers because he dared to leave the village. Twenty years later, when he was a successful businessman, he decided to spend all the money he had earned to open a road to the village, ignoring the advice of road and bridge experts because of the complex steep terrain cliffs. stand. He was still determined to do it, but in reality, those difficulties made him bankrupt, and he had to sell all his assets so that the road to the village could finally be completed after 10 years of construction. What he regretted most was that his father could not wait until that day when he thought his son was mentally crazy when he was determined to build a road to the village.

We conquer this road into the village, walking on the wooden bridge clinging to the cliff and the glass bridge.

Today's next journey will be along the Kim Sa River (upstream of the Truong Giang River) and climb uphill to see the most beautiful U-shaped panorama of the Kim Sa River. We may decide: to go through the tunnel (simple) or conquer Bai Ma Pass (the tunnel has an altitude of 4,300m), but the pass will be a big challenge when reaching over 5,000m high with snow cover. Immerse yourself in the vast space of white snow, admire the eternal snow mountain, and admire the Mai Ly Tuyet Son range - the highest mountain in Yunnan and the sacred mountain of the Tibetan people where Kawagebo peak (6,740m) is located. ) is a mountain peak that no explorer has conquered to this day, although since 1987 there have been many expeditions around the world trying to explore it, but most of them have had to give up or get into trouble. For Tibetans, Kawagebo is a sacred mountain peak and humans are not allowed to toutch it. That is why the Chinese government currently prohibits climbing this mountain range.

Day 5: DEQÉN – MARKAM, 220km, (3,875m)

Vietnam to China motorcycle tourAbout 100km drive along the river the Tibet Entry Control Station, stop for a passport, permit, local Tibet guide, itinerary, and luggage inspection to complete "entry" procedures into Tibet.

In the afternoon, visit an ancient salt-making village in Gia Dat village (Yanjing), Nap Tay commune of Mangkang district, over 1,300 years old. The village is famous for its manual salt making with water pumped from wells to the salt fields.

Today, this village still provides nearly 2 million kg of salt to surrounding areas every year. Visit the only Catholic church in the Tibet Autonomous Region built by 17 French missionaries (in 1865) with headquarters in Xinjiang and they took turns coming here to preach.

After breakfast, we will have our tody “dessert” at Lawushan Pass (altitude) of 4,338m and 35km long with sky-white snow. The mountain pass is winding and the road is quite degraded and damaged.

Going down the pass, stopping by the Zhuka bridge spanning the Lancang River (Mekong), followed by Jueba Pass at an altitude of 3,930m, and then continuing to conquer the Dongda Pass at an altitude of 5008m will be a big challenge before descending to Zogang.

At the intersection with the Yi'Ong Tsangpo stream, we will pass the legendary Tongmai bridge, this is the location considered the "death grave", "graveyard", or "death passage" on Avenue 318. With weak geology and year-round landslides on one side, there are cliffs up to 2,000 meters high. Its peak is 4,500m above sea level, so flash floods, landslides, and avalanches often occur. Up to now, after many repairs and a lot of human effort, the Tongmai bridge has been rebuilt with a cable car structure and 1 pillar to ensure smooth safety.

Today's journey has a relatively low altitude, rich and diverse vegetation and beautiful scenery, so this place is known as the "Switzerland of Tibet". Nyingchi has Lulang forest, Namjagbarwa peak and many "check-in" points that cannot be missed by tourists when going to Tibet.
