Dien Bien is a province with 414,712km of border with Laos. With 2 pairs of international border gates Tay Trang and Huoi Puoc. Bordering the two provinces of Phongsali and Luang Prabang. The ancient Luang Prabang is less than 400km from Dien Bien Phu city, even closer than the distance from Dien Bien to Hanoi.

MTA organizes a program to explore northern Laos with the route starting and ending in Dien Bien Phu city, with a 4-day 3-night program that will take you to Luang Prabang province, explore the beautiful Nam Ou river with canyons several hundred meters deep and then the journey to explore the offroad route back to Dien Bien through Huoi Puoc border gate. Discover the beauty, wildness of the mountains and forests as well as the cultural features of the Lao ethnic groups.

1. Dien Bien – Tay Trang – Muong Khoa, 100km

   When we landed at the airport, everything was ready by ITW. We got dressed and ran to a restaurant in the city for lunch. At 13:00 we departed, went to Tay Trang border gate to complete exit procedures for people and vehicles. In the afternoon, we spent time exploring the beautiful villages of the Lao ethnic groups.

2. Muong Khoa – Nam Ou – Muong Ngoi, 5 hours by boat

   This morning, we boarded a boat to explore the beautiful Nam Ou River with its charming natural scenery. On the way, the group will stop to explore some ethnic minority villages on both sides of the river.

   Have a picnic lunch on the boat before transferring to the hydroelectric dam by tuk tuk to enter the majestic, mountainous forest area. Where the river seems to be suffocated and the cliffs on both sides are several hundred meters high. The boat will stop at the beautiful Muong Ngoi village of the Khmu ethnic group. After checking in, we will climb the mountain to watch the sunset along the Nam Ou River.

   If traveling by car, the tour guide/driver will contact you to get tickets, contact the boat company and make an appointment for you to be at the pier at 9:30. The tour guide (who also drives) will have to continue the journey by road for 250km to reach Muong Ngoi and be in time to lead the group to climb the mountain in the afternoon.

3. Muong Ngoi – Nong Khieu – Vang Xieng, 120km

   After breakfast, we will conquer the challenging 20km road through the forest along the Nam Ou River to the beautiful Muong Ngoi. Watch the white clouds floating in the morning mist.

   Nong Khieu is a famous tourist destination that international adventure travel enthusiasts coming to Laos cannot miss with its majestic scenery with high mountain ranges along the Nam Ou River creating a natural landscape like a charming landscape painting.

   This place also has trekking routes to the mountain tops to see the whole view of the mountains and forests. We will take our time and choose a trek route with a duration of about 2.5 hours round trip.

   After going down the mountain, resting, having lunch and watching the Nam Ou River, we set off to conquer the newly opened route through the Huoi Puoc border gate. This is a route with about 50km of difficult offroad but in return is a wonderful feeling of exploring the most pristine land of Laos.

   Vang Xieng is an extremely small and beautiful town of Laos on the Nam Xoang River, where our group will stop overnight.

4. Vang Xieng – Huoi Puoc – Dien Bien, 130km

   After breakfast, our group headed to Huoi Puoc border gate to complete immigration procedures to return to Vietnam and return to Dien Bien. On the way, we stopped to visit Na Lay village to visit the family of a former Dien Bien Phu soldier, listening to him talk about his life of fighting and working during the years of fighting the French.

   The next journey will take us to a Lao Noi village by the Nam Ngam River, to explore the differences between the Lao people in Dien Bien and neighboring countries. Here, people still preserve the traditional brocade weaving craft as well as the unique cultural features of the Lao people.

   After lunch, resting by the Nam Ngam River, we headed back to Dien Bien,

2. TOUR PRICE INCLUDES:
   Pick-up and drop-off vehicle from Dien Bien Phu airport and accompany the group throughout the journey,
   Vietnam-Laos joint transport license, procedures, exit/entry and customs fees for vehicles,
   Insurance for vehicles and people,
   Vehicles according to the above price options,
   With cars, the driver will have to drive an additional 250km from Muong Khoa to Muong Ngoi (7-seat car) and to Nong Khieu (16-seat car)
   If the program is by 16-seat car, the next morning the group will continue to take a 30-minute train ride on the Nam Ou River to Nong Khieu.
